Indianapolis Colts vs Tennessee Titans
Last 5 Games
Head to Head
We’ve got a big Thursday night match-up for 1st place in the AFC South. The Titans opened up as a 2.5 point favorite but the line has moved down to +1/-1 depending on the book, despite getting 60% of the money; indicating a good amount of sharp money coming in on the Colts. Both of these teams are 3-2 in their last 5 games. The Colts coming off a 24-10 home loss to the Ravens and the Titans a 24-17 home win over the Bears.
A key match-up to watch here will be a dominant Titans rushing attack led by Derrick Henry going up against a dominant Colts rushing defense that only allows 83.6 yards per game. The Colts defense has been one of, if not the best in the NFL and the Titans offense has struggled to find its footing since the loss of Taylor Lewan. It cost them 2 straight games to the Steelers and Bengals and they looked bad against an offensively inept Bears team last week.
The Colts offense can supplement the run defense by getting out to an early lead. Despite an overall record of 6-2, the Titans are just 1-2 when trailing at halftime this year. The Titans defense has really struggled generating only 1.2 sacks/game and giving up over 400 yards/game. Rivers had his struggles last week but I expect him to get back on track in this one. The Titans secondary is giving up 285 yards/game and they’ll still be without Adoree’ Jackson.
Rivers is also 7-2 against the Titans in his career and the Colts should be confident going into Nashville having won their last couple of games at Nissan Stadium. There’s always a concern going on the road in a short week, especially after playing a physical team in the Ravens; but this is a tough, well-coached Colts team and I expect them to be eager to bounce back with a big win to take the lead in the division.
Pick: Indianapolis Colts -1
