Nelson has lost 4 straight fights. He’s 44 years old and he’s seen his record thin to 23-18 after a 13-2 start to his career. He’s a well-rounded veteran with 15 knockouts and 4 submissions on his resume. He’s got 18 losses as well but most of those losses came against top-level UFC guys like Stipe, DC, Werdum, Dos Santos, Derrick Lewis, Overeem, etc. He’s also only been finished 3 times and never by submission. With that said, he’s a +575 dog for a reason. A win over Valentin Moldavsky would be very impressive at this point in his career.

His only loss came against Amir Aliakbari via a split-decision. He’s the much better fighter at this stage of his career and he has a chance to become the first guy to submit Roy Nelson.

Prediction: Valentin Moldavsky via KO/TKO

Not only is Nelson on a 4-fight losing streak, but every opponent has been over 40 years old. He’s going up against a prime Moldavsky in this one and he’s simply over-matched. With that said, Nelson has managed 3 decisions in his last 4 losses and Moldavsky isn’t necessarily a finisher, so you may be able to find some value in an early KO/TKO. Take Moldavsky to get his 2nd career knockout.
