Reach: 74″

Last 5 Fights:

Salter is a solid all-around fighter with excellent grappling. He’s also an excellent finisher with 9 submissions and 7 KO/TKO’s out of his 17 wins. He’s 9-1 over the last seven years with 8 of those fights taking place in the Bellator cage. His only loss came to Rafael Lovato Jr. via a late 3rd round submission; and Lovato Jr. went on to beat Gegard Mousasi for the middleweight title. Lovato Jr. has since relinquished the belt and with a win over Andrew Kapel, John Salter will find himself right back in title contention.

Andrew Kapel (+190)

Record: 15-6-0

Age: 35

Height: 6’3″

Weight: 185

Reach: 74.5″

Last 5 Fights:

W – KO – Muhammed Lawal

W – Sub – Tyler Hufnagle

W – Dec – Kevin Nowaczyk

W – Sub – Maurice Jackson

W – Sub – Adam Stroup

Kapel is on an excellent run with 5 straight wins. His last win was a quick knockout over Muhammed Lawal in his Bellator debut. He’s an excellent finisher as well with 10 submissions and 4 KO/TKO’s out of his 15 wins. He’s a big middleweight and fights with an unorthodox stance. He fought his last fight at a catch-weight of 195 lbs and put Lawal completely out with a short right hook. Kapel will look to upset Salter and put his name into title contention instead.

Prediction: John Salter via Submission

Both of these fighters are on impressive runs and they have a combined 30 finishes out of their 32 total wins. With that said, Salter has faced the tougher competition and I expect him to have an advantage in the grappling. He has an excellent fight IQ and he understands how to make adjustments. Kapel looked great in his last fight but Lawal has also been knocked out in 5 out of his last 6. Kapel has 10 submissions on his resume but he’s been submitted 5 times as well. Look for Salter to control this fight and pull out a 2nd round submission.
