Georgi Karakhanyan vs Myles Jury
Georgi Karakhanyan (+180)
Myles Jury (-220)
Georgi Karakhanyan (29-10-1)
Karakhanyan is coming off a 2nd round submission win over Paul Redmond this past February. 15 of his 29 career wins have come via submission. He’s a grappler with limited striking and he’ll be looking to get this fight on the ground from the get-go. His style tends to work against lesser opponents but not against the better fighters. He’s just 6-7-1 in his last 14 fights. A win over Jury would easily be the biggest of his career.
Myles Jury (18-5-0)
Jury was once a hot, undefeated UFC lightweight prospect. At 15-0 he already had wins over Michael Johnson, Diego Johnson, and Takanori Gomi. Fast-forward to 2020 and he’s lost 5 out of his last 8 fights. The UFC dropped him and now he’s at Bellator. They threw him to Benson Henderson right away and he lost an unanimous decision. He beat Brandon Girtz in his 2nd fight. Jury is a very solid, well-rounded fighter, but his game just hasn’t evolved enough to beat the elite guys.
Prediction: Myles Jury via Decision
Jury has struggled recently but he’s also been taking on much better competition. His only losses have come against Cowboy Cerrone, Charles Oliveira, Chad Mendes, Andre Fili, and Benson Henderson. His wrestling is underrated and he’s just beaten another solid wrestler in Brandon Girtz. Jury is a much higher level fighter, and Karakhanyan has never cashed in as more than a +115 underdog. Take Jury comfortably.
