Ariane Lipski vs Luana Carolina
Ariane Lipski (-130) (12-5-0)
Lipski came into the UFC with a lot of hype but dropped two straight decisions to Joanne Calderwood and Molly Mccann. She was able to get her first UFC win over Isabela de Padua and she’ll look to even up her record against Luana Carolina. Lipski has 6 knockouts in her 12 wins and has a reputation as a striker, but she’s had trouble throwing the necessary volume to get it done. She was out-struck nearly 2-1 by both Mccann and Calderwood, and only managed 31 significant strikes in her unanimous decision win over Isabela de Padua. Lipski is eager to follow up on her first UFC win with her first UFC knockout and prove she’s the “Queen of Violence”.
Luana Carolina (+100) (6-1-0)
Carolina has won six straight after losing her first professional bout to a split-decision. She’s a volume striker, landing 6.5 significant strikes per minute and she also likes to utilize her knees and elbows in the clinch. She took a 3-round decision over Priscila Cachoeira in her UFC debut in May 2019, but shortly after was diagnosed with a serious spinal fracture. No surgery was required, but she was forced into bed rest for over a month and had to go through a grueling physical therapy process. Carolina has had plenty of time to work on her game and she’ll be eager to show off her improvements over fellow Brazilian striker Ariane Lipski.
Prediction: Ariane Lipski via KO/TKO
Lipski should be the more technical, sharper striker and she should be able to find the finish against Carolina. Carolina throws a lot of volume but she’s also a bit reckless and leaves her head on the line for counters. Cachoeira was able to inflict some damage on her and if she hasn’t improved her defense, Lipski has the ability to make her pay. Lipski also has a bit more experience than Carolina as she came up in the highly touted KSW promotion. Take Lipski to get her 2nd straight win in the octagon.
