Abdul Razak Alhassan vs Mounir Lazzez
Abdul Razak Alhassan (-320) (10-1-0)
Alhassan comes into this fight 2-0 in the UFC but hasn’t fought for two years due to ongoing legal battles. He’s gone through a dark period and he’ll be eager to get back into the octagon with his name vindicated. He’s a physical specimen and all of his ten victories coming via 1st round knockout. There’s little secret to his gameplan. Alhassan will look to finish Lazzez early and keep his impressive streak alive.
Mounir Lazzez (+260) (9-1-0)
Lazzez has an impressive record as well but he hasn’t faced anyone of Alhassan’s caliber. Lazzez best path to victory is getting this fight into the 2nd and 3rd rounds. The one time Alhassan went past the 1st round in his career, he lost a split-decision to Omari Akhmedov. Lazzez does have 8 knockouts in his 9 career wins and while he may not have as much power, he’ll have a significant height and reach advantage. Lazzez has an excellent opportunity to capitalize as a big underdog in his UFC debut on Fight Island.
Prediction: Abdul Razak Alhassan via 1st Round KO/TKO
Lazzez is far too stiff defensively and he doesn’t have the power to match Alhassan. Unless he’s made big improvements in his head movement, he’s going to get caught early and learn the hard way. Alhassan is far too hungry after sitting out for two years and I don’t expect him to waste any time. He’ll walk through Lazzez for another 1st round knockout.
