Jessica Andrade vs Rose Namajunas 2
Jessica Andrade (+160) (20-7-0)
Coming off her 1st lost in her last 5 fights, Andrade will look for a quick rebound in a highly anticipated rematch with “Thug” Rose. Though she did get a 2nd round KO over Rose in their first fight, the fight in it’s entirety told a completely different story. Andrade was outclassed on the feet from start to finish and if not for finding that fight-ending slam she was in serious trouble. Expect her to implement a clinch heavy game-plan and try to use her strength to wear down Rose, especially early in the fight. She’s got to get inside and make it dirty because Rose will pick her apart at range. With a win Saturday night, Andrade proves the first time was no fluke and that she belongs among the women’s strawweight elite.
Rose Namajunas (-200) (9-4-0)
“Thug” Rose makes her highly anticipated return to the octagon on UFC 251’s Main Card. She quickly became a fan favorite after picking up impressive back-to-back victories over ex-strawweight queen Joanna Jędrzejczyk. Rose will be seeking revenge Saturday night after being slammed and knocked out by Andrade the first time around, and she’s been waiting over a year to do so. She’s a much more dynamic striker but she’ll have to avoid the power of Andrade at all costs. With a win Saturday night, Rose is all but guaranteed another shot at the belt in what would be an exciting matchup against Weili Zhang.
Prediction: Rose Namajunas via 3rd Round KO/TKO
Not only will Rose win at UFC 251, but she’ll be the strawweight champion by the end of 2020. With all due respect to Weili Zhang, Rose’s striking is just on another level and if you look at their respective fights against Joanna it’s quite clear. Andrade is an excellent fighter as well but she’s not at the level of either Rose or Zhang, and Rose has a chance to prove that once again Saturday night. Expect Rose to look even sharper than she did the first time around and to make a statement with an impressive finish over Andrade.
