Sean Woodson vs Julian Erosa
Sean Woodson (-440) (7-0-0)
The undefeated Woodson is 1-0 in the UFC and 7-0 as a professional. He pulled out a decision victory in his UFC debut over the resilient Kyle Bochniak. Woodson has great height and reach for a featherweight and he mixes up his striking very well. He’ll be eager to earn his first finish in the UFC and make a much needed statement in the crowded featherweight division.
Julian Erosa (+350) (22-9-0)
Erosa comes into this fight on a three-fight skid in dire need of a win if he hopes to stay in the promotion. He’s faced some tough tests in Devonte Smith, Grant Dawson, and Julio Arce and he’ll look to use that experience to overcome the rising Woodson. Erosa has had a decent amount of success on the regional scene but the UFC has proven to be a bit too much as he holds a 1-4 record in the promotion. He’ll need a big upset here if he hopes to avoid being cut by the UFC for a 3rd time.
Prediction: Sean Woodson via 2nd Round KO/TKO
Woodson may lack experience but he’ll have momentum working in his favor Saturday night. The 30-year old Erosa has been knocked out in two of his last three fights and it’s tough to see him avoiding a similar fate in this one. Woodson should have a decisive technical advantage over Erosa and I do not see this fight going to the judges’ scorecards. I expect Erosa to narrowly survive the 1st round before Woodson puts him away for good in the 2nd.
