Mike Perry vs Mickey Gall
Mike Perry (-320) (13-6-0)
“Platinum” Mike Perry comes into this fight on a 2-fight losing skid. He dropped a split-decision to Vicente Luque and then got knocked out by rising star Geoff Neal. He also brings with him a decent amount of drama surrounding his preparation leading up to this fight, as he’s chosen to train himself and his girlfriend will be the only person in his corner. With that said, he’s a UFC veteran and he’s faced an elite level of competition over his career. He’ll be eager to get back on track with a victory over the once highly touted prospect Mickey Gall.
Mickey Gall (+260) (6-2-0)
Gall came into the UFC with a ton of hype, however he’s 2-2 in his last four fights with a loss to the reeling Diego Sanchez just over a year ago. He’s got excellent Jiu-Jitsu and will be looking to get this fight on the ground as soon as possible. He doesn’t have the best striking and he’ll want to avoid standing at range with the powerful Perry. A win on Saturday night is imperative if the 28-year old Gall wants to stay in the UFC much longer.
Prediction: Mike Perry via 2nd Round KO/TKO
I expect Perry to come into this fight razor sharp and eager to prove his doubters wrong. He fights best with a chip on his shoulder and it’s only a matter of time before he puts Gall away. Gall is a talented grappler but he just hasn’t faced near the competition as Perry. He’ll regret any time spent standing with Perry and his only real path to victory involves Perry making a fatal mistake i.e. his fight against “Cowboy” Cerrone. I expect Perry to weaken him with some solid shots in the clench and put him out cold at some point in the 2nd round.
